Bolton are relishing today´s FA Cup tie

We were gutted that we didn´t beat Wigan last week at
the Reebok Stadium
The Christmas period didn´t really go as we´d planned and being beaten by Wigan and Liverpool has thrown us back into the mix of teams in mid-table. Possibly our form hasn´t been as good as it was, but I also think that this is just one of those leagues where anything can happen. Outside of the top few sides anyone can beat anyone and it´s about who steps up on the day.

We´ve already shown this season that we can live in this league and that we should be looking up the table and not down. But you have to keep believing that and take it into every match with you. We´re still doing okay, but we need to put a few results on the board.

The transfer window is open and I´m sure the boss will be looking to bring a few players in to strengthen the squad. This is a big time of the year for all clubs because it´s the only opportunity to get things sorted for the second half of the season. I suppose some players might find it a bit disruptive, but I just tend to keep my head down and if there are new faces around when you come in that´s fine. You know the manager is looking to improve the team and we all know competition for places is a good thing. We don´t have the biggest squad and if we get injuries and suspensions we can be a bit thin on the ground.

I´m looking forward to our FA Cup match with Sunderland and if we can repeat the 4-1 result we put over them earlier in the season we´ll be very happy. They´ll be looking for a bit of revenge and that´ll add a nice edge to the game. Although it´s tough because it´s a Premiership tie, you prefer to play teams you know a lot about rather than some lower division outfit that you don´t see week in week out. It´s the cup and anything can happen. I always enjoy the cup and a decent run would be great.

We get back to league action with two really tough matches against Arsenal and Manchester United, but these are the games you want to play in. We beat United last year and we have pushed Arsenal to the wire. They are great sides but it´s a chance to show what we can do and for every player to stand up and be counted. We´re confident we can beat anyone and we want to be up there at the top of the table.
