Liverpool have impressed me this season

Dirk Kuyt celebrates scoring against Bolton at the Reebok Stadium
You might imagine that all the talk on the training ground last week would have been about our disallowed goal against Liverpool. But it was far from it. When something like that happens you just have to forget about it and move on.

It did cause a fair bit of debate though! The papers and Match of the Day dissect referee decisions like that. I suppose they are moments that change a game so it´s not surprising. Personally I don’t like to watch replays of big incidents. The moment has gone and there´s not a lot that can change it.

At times this season we haven’t had the rub of the green. It seems that Bolton can be a bit unlucky when it comes to refereeing decisions.

I was impressed by Liverpool. They are a very good team and this is probably their best chance so far of winning the Premier League
I was impressed by Liverpool. They are a very good team and this is probably their best chance so far of winning the Premier League. They are up there pushing for the title already and, although it´s still early days, I think they´ll be up there come the end of the season. Liverpool don’t let a lot in and they have got players who can score goals too. It makes things a lot more interesting to have another team up there with a chance of winning the title. This looks like their year.

We lost 2-0 but there were a lot of positives for us. Especially in the second half where we fought back and had good chances. We proved that we are a team that can challenge the top sides but unfortunately we didn’t make the most of our chances that day.

With Liverpool being a local derby I had a lot of family and friends at the game. I´ve got two little boys, aged four and two, and they sometimes come along with my wife to the Reebok Stadium. They know I play football but I don’t think they really know what my job is, or that I play in the Premier League. The younger one actually likes football better than the four year-old. He can sit down and watch a full game whereas the eldest just wants to run about. Maybe one of them will be a future footballer!
